Built by a local icon
Once upon a time in Hollywood…. or in this case, Portland. Andy Andersen, founder and owner of Portland’s ever-so- famous “Andersen Construction”, had a dream. After attending the University of Washington to study aeronautical engineering, he dreamt of a home design that replicated an airplane. After collage, Andersen was hired by a local Portland builder as a “construction estimator” eventually working his way up and going out on his own to start Andersen construction.
3135 SW Fairmount Blvd, Portland, Oregon
$2,400,000 | 4 BED | 7 BATH | 6,202 Sqft
Fast forward to 1960, Andy’s original dream became a reality. This one of a kind Frank Lloyd Wright inspired time capsule sits on 1.64 acres in the SW Hills with incredible sunset and multi-mountain views. The architect demonstrates his appetite for this mid century modern with a rigorous, highly intellectual approach to design and a mastery of clean lines, muted curves and large windows. It’s design elements remain untouched, in pristine original condition.
The fusion of indoor and outdoor is irreplaceable with this design. Not only is this an incredible home, but the view is like no other. I have caught myself many times starring out at the view, watching planes go by. Andersen knew what he was doing when he picked this location for a home. It feels as if you are on top of the world.
If you get a chance to see this home in person, it truly feels like we have had the opportunity to turn back out clocks and see the world in the 1960. I can only imagine how magnificent the parties were here. Oh, if these walls could talk..
There are quite a few features in this home that shall not be missed. With 4 fireplaces, there won’t be a chance to not stay warm and cozy durning this holiday season. The tile roof and stainless steel gutters make for long lasting structures. And just incase you are an entertainer, there are two driveways making for plenty of room for all your guest.
This special home has been kept in the family since it was built.
